The former champions Manchester City had to settle for a point after a stellar show from Leeds United in their latest Premier League outing. In a match which saw two great footballing minds face-off, Guardiola and Bielsa had to settle for a 1-1 scoreline.
In the match held at Elland Road, the Citizens scored early in the first half with Raheem Sterling getting in the score sheet. Leeds were successful to see out the City pressure in the first half after the goal went in. But Bielsa has other plans in the second half as Rodrigo scored the equalizer.
It was a disappointing game as the Blues just had two shots on target of the 23 shots they attempted. In the post-match press meeting, Guardiola expressed his frustration even though he felt it was a fair game. “I thought we played better than against Leicester, we played at a high level. We cannot afford to drop points or else we are not going to win the league”, said the Spaniard.
He added that it was an entertaining game and spoke with great respect for Bielsa and his team. The Leeds side was not afraid of a challenge just like they played against Liverpool.
Bielsa has yet again cemented his tactics and mentality for this season. The newly-promoted side has definitely made an impression and stated with their performance that they are here to stay.
